Mate He Denied

"Bro quit dragging, we're gonna be late for school!" Dax yelled from downstairs. I sighed, left my room, and shut the door behind me. Then I jogged down the steps and stopped beside Dax at the front door. "Why do you even care if we're late?" I asked, irritated. Dax smirked as he headed for the car. "It's Maren's birthday, and I wanna catch a glimpse of her, cuz I know she's gonna look good." he said. I rolled my eyes and tried not to show how mad that made me. I don't act like it, but I still care about Maren and I miss when we were friends. I thought about trying to fix things between us, then figured there was no point since she hates me. I slid into the driver's seat and Dax climbed in on the other side. I backed out fast and drove toward school. The ride only took five minutes and neither of us said anything. When we pulled in, a huge group was crowded around Jace's car, and I guessed Maren's was inside. I rolled my eyes at all the idiots and parked in my normal spot. Dax and I got out and headed over to the rest of our crew. "Hey, baby." one of the blonde bimbos from our group said, wrapping herself around my arm. I looked down at her and smiled while she fluttered her eyelashes like she was being cute. "Damn!" Dax said beside me, and I lifted my head to see almost every unmated guy in the parking lot staring at one girl, Maren. My gaze moved over her and damn, she looked hot. She had on short black shorts that still weren't too revealing and a white top slipping off one shoulder, baring a teasing bit of skin. Her dark hair hung in perfect curls, and she looked straight-up angelic. Basically, she looked good enough to eat. Then I watched her stop out of nowhere and start dragging deep breaths in through her nose. I frowned and tested the air myself, and the second I did I caught the best scent I'd ever smelled. It was kind of like lavender mixed with roses. 'Mate! Mate! Mate!' my wolf shouted inside my head. I sucked in another breath and searched the lot for the girl the smell belonged to. The second my eyes met hers, I knew. We were mates. Looking into those baby blue eyes, all I wanted to do was walk over there and kiss her as hard as I could. I had finally found my mate, Maren Hale.
